Walking Lamma

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon and instead of taking a nap or doing homework, I talked the boys into going to Lamma Island. I wanted to take my camera and get some pictures of John. He has grown about 4-5 inches since we have been here in Hong Kong. He has lost his “BABYFACE” so I wanted to take some more distinguished photos of my “BABY”! After I completed that assignment I had to find a way to keep John engaged in this Family Activity, I ended up giving him my camera – that was a big mistake. I had so many pictures of…well I am not sure of what – but I will share some of the ones that I actually kept!

Smile for the camera!
We walked across the Island - not sure if John is trying to take a picture of Ron and I or the mountains - either way it is a boring picture!

More trails.....
It looks like I am taller in this picture, unfortunately I am not
The bays at each end of Lamma Island are quaint and quiet!

Lost and Forgotten

"You meet people who forget you. You forget people you meet. But sometimes you meet those people you can't forget. Those are your friends!"
I started his blog to keep track of my adventures in Hong Kong - but it has turned into so much more.  It is a place that I can share not only my observations of life in China, but also my thoughts as I seek for solitude in a busy and faced pace life.  One of the hardest things to deal with overseas is the feeling of being forgotten.  It is true that I live this amazing adventure everyday - but it is HARD.  Only those people who have lived in non-English speaking countries for a period of time can truly understand.  For them I am grateful for their friendships and support.

Imprints

Not long ago I had the opportunity to visit Tioman Island, Malaysia. Late one afternoon I took my small camera down to the shore and just sat down on the wet sand and just watched the waves roll in. With each wave the sand was left wet, clean and untouched.

I made foot prints in the sand and watched as the waves slowly and deliberately filled in the imprints and washed away every trace that I had ever been there.

Today I was looking at those pictures again, and the thought came to me that there are people and things in our lives that make imprints. Some of those imprints wash away after time – our memory of them is filled in by the sands of time. As I was pondering this I also thought that there are those memories that are not just imprinted in our minds to be washed away, but it is as though they are etched into our soul to remain always a part of us. I am grateful that not all imprints are washed away like my foot prints on the beach that day. My soul is made up of precious moments and memories of people and places that have impacted my life in such a way that they are indeed etched into the very fabric of my being…never to be washed way or forgotten. Although I may leave the beach for a time, these imprints are always with me and for that I am grateful.

Good “KNIGHT”

Today I lost a friend. My heart grieves for the loss, even though I know it was for the best. How do you fill the hole they left in your heart and life? The gift of true friendship is such a blessing in one's life, this friend will be missed dearly and will always be remembered and cherished. Good bye and good “KNIGHT”.

"FRIEND"

"Once in an age God sends to some of us a friend who loves in us, not a false-imagining, an unreal character, but looking through the rubbish of our imperfections, loves in us the divine ideal of our nature,--loves, not the man that we are, but the angel that we may be."

Harriet Beecher Stowe

As I go through life, I have realized that having a good "FRIEND" is one of the best gifts that anyone can be given.   How blessed my life has been for those that have seen the "ANGEL" in me.

Thank YOU!!
